Custom Blessing Magnets: What They Are and How to Design One

What Is a Custom Blessing Magnet?

A custom blessing magnet is a magnet designed around a blessing, a message or a short verse chosen by you. Instead of a generic image, the magnet carries words that matter to the family, set in a layout that matches the event. It goes home with a guest, lands on a fridge and is read every day. That daily visibility is the whole reason people choose it over a one-time favour.

Families order them for weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, baby namings, anniversaries, new-home celebrations and as hosting gifts. The magnet can include a photo, a name and date, a logo or a simple decorative border.

Step 1: Choose the Words

You decide the wording. People usually pick one of four routes: a traditional text that is meaningful to the family, a blessing the hosts have written themselves, a short message of thanks from the guest of honour, or a favourite line or verse. Whichever route you take, the main rule is brevity. A magnet is read in a glance, so one to four short lines work better than a paragraph.

If you are using a text in another language, send it exactly as you want it printed, copied from a source you trust. We typeset what you provide; we do not change the wording.

Step 2: Pick the Language or Languages

Montréal families often want more than one language on the same piece, for example French and English, or Hebrew with an English line underneath. We can set text in English, French, Hebrew and 52+ other languages. When you mix scripts, tell us which language should be the most prominent and whether the layout should read left to right or right to left, so the design feels natural rather than squeezed.

Step 3: Decide the Look

Match the magnet to the event. A wedding favour might use a soft border and the couple's initials. A bar mitzvah favour might echo the party theme or colours. A baby naming might use gentle colours and the baby's name and date. Keep these rules in mind:

Step 4: Choose the Size and Quantity

Standard sizes suit most favours; larger formats work for head-table gifts and family keepsakes and are quoted separately. Our minimum is 50 pieces per design. Pricing is $4.50 each for 50 to 99, $3.25 each for 100 to 249 and $2.50 each for 250 to 499, with a custom quote above 500. Design and a digital proof are included in those prices.

The Proof Checklist

Before you approve a proof, check each of these:

  1. Every name is spelled correctly, including accents and apostrophes.
  2. The date is right, in the format your guests expect.
  3. Non-English text matches your source exactly.
  4. The text is readable at the printed size.
  5. Nothing sits too close to the edge.
  6. A second family member has proofread it. A fresh pair of eyes catches what the planner misses.

We revise until you approve. We do not print anything before you do.

Three Example Layouts to Picture

The simple text magnet: one short blessing centred on a light background with a thin border and the event date at the bottom. The photo magnet: a favourite family photo in the upper two thirds and a single line of text beneath it. The monogram magnet: the couple's or family's monogram at the top, the blessing in the middle and the date and name below. Each works at small sizes, and each is easy to proof quickly.

Common Questions About Wording

Families often ask whether to include names, how long the text can be and whether to repeat it in two languages. A useful rule is to include names only if every guest will recognise them, keep to about twenty to thirty words at most, and place the primary language first and larger. If you are unsure, send us your draft and we will show two layouts so you can compare them side by side.

When to Order

We recommend placing your order at least three weeks before your event, and four to six weeks is more comfortable if you want to share the proof with relatives. Orders can be picked up, delivered in Greater Montréal or shipped across Canada, with shipping quoted separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do blessing magnets have to be religious?
No. The words are entirely yours: a family blessing, a thank-you, a wish for the couple or a favourite saying all work.

Can I add a photo?
Yes. A photo plus a short line is a popular combination, particularly for baby namings and anniversaries.

Do I have to order 50 of the same design?
Yes, 50 is the minimum per design. Smaller family gifts can be combined with a favour order or a live-event booking.
