Budget Per Guest, Not Per Item
The easiest way to budget favours is to decide what you are willing to spend per guest and multiply by your headcount. Most families land somewhere between a couple of dollars and a few dollars per guest for the main favour, and then add a smaller amount for extras such as packaging or a premium piece for the head table. The right number depends on the event, but the method stays the same: set the per-guest figure first, then pick products that fit it.
How Our Custom Favour Pricing Works
Custom favour magnets and blessing magnets are priced per piece, and the price drops as quantity rises. The minimum order is 50 pieces per design, and design plus a digital proof are included.
- 50 to 99 pieces: $4.50 each (from $225)
- 100 to 249 pieces: $3.25 each (from $325)
- 250 to 499 pieces: $2.50 each (from $625)
- 500 or more: custom quote
Custom cards, such as thank-you cards, place cards and trading-card-style keepsakes, start from $3.50 each for 50 or more, depending on size and finish.
Worked Examples
A 75-guest family celebration. Order about 80 pieces (guests plus a small buffer) at $4.50 each: roughly $360. If you also want 50 thank-you cards at $3.50 each, add about $175.
A 150-guest simcha or wedding. Order about 165 pieces at $3.25 each: roughly $536. That is under $3.60 per guest for a custom piece with your wording or photo on it.
A 300-guest event. Order about 330 pieces at $2.50 each: roughly $825, or about $2.75 per guest. At this size the volume price makes a custom favour comparable to many generic ones.
These figures are examples. Taxes, delivery and any larger formats are quoted separately.
Costs That Surprise People
- The buffer. Ordering exactly your headcount often leaves you short. Plan for about 10 percent extra.
- Rush timing. Last-minute orders limit your choices. We recommend ordering at least three weeks before the event.
- Multiple designs. Each design carries a 50-piece minimum. Two designs of 60 pieces cost more than one of 120.
- Delivery or shipping. Delivery in Greater Montréal and shipping across Canada are quoted separately.
- Packaging. If you want gift bags or boxes, budget for them separately.
Ways to Spend Less Without Looking Cheap
- Use one design instead of two. This reaches a higher volume tier faster.
- Keep the artwork simple. A clean layout with your wording looks more expensive than a crowded one.
- Bundle with a live package. Book any live package and take 10 percent off your favour order. Packages start at $499 for one hour.
- Skip extras no one will notice. Spend where guests will see it: the favour itself, not the wrapping.
A Quick Budget Template
Write four lines: guests plus 10 percent, price per piece at your volume tier, number of designs, and extras such as cards or delivery. Multiply the first two, add the cost of any extra design or cards and add shipping if needed. For example, 110 pieces at $3.25 is about $358; add 50 thank-you cards at $3.50 for about $175 and you have a clear total before you ask for a quote. Having this on paper makes it much easier to compare quotes fairly.
Questions to Ask Any Supplier
- Is design included, and how many rounds of revisions?
- Is there a minimum quantity per design?
- Do I see a proof before printing?
- What is the lead time, and what happens if I am late?
- Are delivery, shipping and taxes quoted separately?
These five answers explain most of the difference between two quotes that look similar on the surface.
Where the Money Is Best Spent
The favours that get kept are the ones that mean something: a blessing the family chose, a photo from the day or a name guests recognise. A $2.50 to $4.50 magnet with real meaning usually outperforms a more expensive generic item that ends up in a drawer. That is the real budget question: not how much you spend, but whether the guest keeps it.
