Event Planning Mistakes Montréal Hosts Make (And How to Avoid Them)

📅 February 5, 2026 · ⏱ 4 min read · By Mr. Magnet Montréal

Mistake #1: Booking Too Late

The most common mistake we see from Montréal event hosts is leaving vendor booking too late. For popular dates — Saturday evenings in spring and fall especially — the best vendors are booked months in advance. We recommend booking your entertainment and experience vendors at least 6–8 weeks before your event, and earlier is always better.

Mistake #2: Prioritizing Aesthetics Over Experience

Instagram-worthy décor is wonderful, but guests remember how they felt, not how things looked. The most memorable Montréal events we've been part of prioritized guest experience — interactive moments, personalized touches, opportunities for genuine connection. Photo magnets are a perfect example: they're beautiful AND they create an experience guests actively participate in.

Mistake #3: Forgetting About the Takeaway

Many hosts spend lavishly on flowers, catering, and entertainment but give souvenirs no thought until the last minute. The souvenir is what guests take home and what keeps your event alive in their daily lives for years. Budget for it intentionally and choose something genuinely personal rather than generic.
